Overview
DoneLine ("we", "us") is a personal task and project management service available at app.doneline.app and as apps for iOS and macOS. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It applies to the DoneLine apps and to the doneline.app websites.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we do not show ads, and we never sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address (used for magic-link sign-in) and, optionally, a display name and avatar.
- Your content — the tasks, projects, sections, tags, comments, dates and reminder settings you create in DoneLine. This content syncs between your devices through our servers.
- Device and sync metadata — a random device identifier and sync timestamps, used to merge changes between your devices correctly.
- Diagnostics — crash reports and technical error data (via Sentry) so we can fix problems. These reports are technical in nature and are not used for advertising.
- Usage analytics (web only) — the web app may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage. It is not loaded when your browser sends the "Do Not Track" signal, and it is not present in the iOS app.
- Purchase information — Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive your subscription status but never your payment details.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: storing and syncing your content across your devices.
- To sign you in: sending magic-link emails to your address.
- To power AI features you explicitly invoke (see next section).
- To respond to support requests.
- To keep the service reliable and prevent abuse (rate limits, quotas, fraud prevention).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content for advertising.
AI features
Some optional features (AI quick capture, subtask breakdown, weekly report narratives) send the relevant text you provide to Anthropic, our AI processing provider, to generate a result. This happens only when you use these features. Under Anthropic’s commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Fly.io — API server hosting.
- Cloudflare — websites, CDN and DNS.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Anthropic — AI feature processing (only when you use AI features).
- Apple — App Store distribution and in-app purchases on iOS.
- Google Analytics — aggregate web usage statistics (web only, when enabled and not blocked by Do Not Track).
Local-first storage
DoneLine is local-first: a full copy of your content is stored on each device you use, and changes are saved locally before they sync. Deleting the app from a device removes that local copy. Server-side copies are stored with the providers listed above.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Items you delete are removed from your views immediately and purged from our sync servers after a short grace period (about 30 days) used to propagate deletions to your other devices.
To delete your account and all associated data, email us from your sign-up address at the contact below. You can export your full data at any time from Settings → Import & Export in the app.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Server-side data is protected with per-user row-level security so that each account can only access its own rows. Access to production systems is limited to the operator of the service.
Children
DoneLine is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
International transfers
Our infrastructure providers may store and process data in data centers outside of your country of residence. We choose providers that commit to industry-standard safeguards for such transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal information. You can exercise export directly in the app, and the rest by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this site, and the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
